Berlin, Germany – Kiron is proud to announce its selection by the Centre for Public Impact to receive funding from the Google.org AI Opportunity Fund: Europe. This support will help Kiron equip underserved workers, particularly refugees and asylum seekers in Germany and Austria, with AI knowledge and tools for long-term professional success.

The Google.org AI Opportunity Fund is an initiative aimed at providing foundational AI skills to those who may face barriers to upskilling. Google.org, the philanthropic arm of Google, leverages Google's resources and expertise to address global challenges. The Centre for Public Impact, a global not-for-profit organization, works with governments, philanthropy, and civil society to reimagine government systems that serve everyone. They are funded by Google.org to deliver the AI Opportunity Fund.

With this funding, Kiron will train 150 refugees and asylum seekers, offering tailored AI courses that enhance employability and promote social inclusion. Participants will gain practical AI skills that improve their chances of professional integration in the fast-evolving job market.

Wenke Christoph, CEO of Kiron, emphasized the initiative's significance:

“As the global workforce increasingly embraces AI, it’s important that people who have experienced forced displacement and have limited resources also have the opportunity to acquire future-oriented skills. Supporting refugees and asylum seekers in gaining AI expertise not only helps address labor shortages but also fosters sustainable development. It’s a vital step toward ensuring no one is left behind in today’s evolving job market.”
