Technical specifications

The accessibility of www.kiron.ngo relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

Assessment approach

For all subpages of kiron.ngo on both desktop and mobile versions, we run an accessibility score using Google’s Lighthouse. This score, ranging from 0 to 100, provides us with a preliminary understanding of our platform's accessibility status and serves as the initial step in our accessibility evaluation process. Using both WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool and SiteImprove Accessibility Checker on desktop versions of each page, we conduct a thorough analysis to identify and categorize accessibility issues based on type and severity. These tools provide specific locations where these issues exist on the webpage, allowing us to pinpoint and prioritize areas that need attention.

  • Self-evaluation with audit tools (WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool, SiteImprove Accessibility Checker, accessScan and Google’s Lighthouse Report)
  • Self-test with VoiceOver for Mac

Responsive Testing

The tests were run for both mobile and desktop versions.

Limitations and room for improvement

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of currently known limitations and opportunities for improvement:

  • No closed captions for video content
  • (Partly) contrast issues for non content relevant elements
  • (Partly) images do have alt attributes that are redundant
  • (Partly) redundant links
  • (Partly) heading elements do not appear in a sequentially-descending order
  • Not fully accessible pdf attachments
  • Outstanding external manual accessibility audit and formal approval

We will gradually reduce or remove these barriers to the best of our knowledge and ability in the upcoming months.

We are committed to making our website accessible to everyone. We recognize though that we have not achieved full accessibility in all areas.
