Kiron CEO Tobias Ernst visits Kiron Jordan
Our CEO Tobias has recently traveled to Jordan to visit the growing Kiron MENA team accompanied by Anna Häßlin from the Schöpflin Stiftung, Lea Batal from our Lebanon Office and hosted by Allison Church our Regional Director for MENA. Together, they met with senior officials from the UNHCR Regional Office, visited our community center partner the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, and participated in our skill-building workshops at Al Zaatari Refugee Camp next to the Syrian border.
This trip has been his first visit to the region and provided a deeper understanding of our students in vulnerable contexts. Anna has stated: “To be more than 6 years on the move is not temporary: ‘Empowerment to go’ is absolutely needed here.” Our students are resourceful eager and excited to learn and take control of their future, they spoke with Tobias and Anna about their challenges as well as their goals. Tobias reflected that “to see our students needs, the determination to shape their future, to observe the passion and dedication of Kiron staff and experience the sustainable impact we can and have achieved together is a most impressive experience. In times of global economic and political distractions, it is our mission to stay focused on the equal opportunity provided by education.”
The growing team in the Kiron Jordan and Kiron MENA office were honored to host Tobias, Anna and Lea and to share what we do; the support and collaboration of our sister-countries have such an impact on our students and we welcome future exchanges between offices.
