A passion for diversity and inclusion

For Vineel Rajan Nelluru, participating as a mentor in the Kiron Mentoring Program has been about more than just offering guidance. It’s been a rich exchange of experiences, perspectives, and growth.

Vineel holds a Master’s in Micro and Nano Technologies and an MBA. Based in Germany, he has spent over seven years working at TE Connectivity, a leading tech company and valued partner of the Kiron Mentoring program.

A long-time contributor to social initiatives through his local church, Vineel also participates in various employee engagement groups at TE focused on fostering diversity, inclusion, and safe spaces for all.

Participating in Kiron Mentoring

When Vineel learned about Kiron Mentorig, he was immediately intrigued. “Being an immigrant myself, I love to support intercultural exchange in my community,” he says.

Mentoring and supporting refugee learners through the Kiron Mentoring Program specifically piqued his interest. “I’m an ambitious person, dedicated not only to my own career development but also to supporting the growth of those around me,” he explains. “I strongly believe we can learn from every person we meet, and share something in return.”

Vineel has now supported three Kiron learners over the last three years.

Growth through mentoring

One of the most impactful aspects of Vineel’s mentoring experience has been the opportunity to connect through language and learning. “Many of my mentees want someone to speak with to improve their English skills,” he says. “It is really meaningful to hear about the challenges they have faced, and to see their motivation to learn.”

Past sessions often centered around reading and discussing books together—something Vineel found especially fulfilling. “Reading and discussing books was a real highlight,” he shares. “I enjoyed supporting my mentees and was continually inspired by their drive to grow and find new opportunities. It helped keep me motivated, too.”

Of course, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. “I had to adjust to my mentees' needs,” Vineel recalls. “But that pushed me to be flexible and think creatively, helping me find new ways to support them better.”

Words for fellow mentors

Speaking to his fellow Kiron volunteers, Vineel offers heartfelt gratitude. “Thank you for your great work,” he says. “And to anyone considering volunteering with Kiron, sign up,” he urges. “Your mentee will gain skills and confidence, and you’ll be surprised by how much you grow in the process. It’s a blessing for both sides.”
